"In the year 2000 Aishwarya Rai of India (1994) was chosen the ‘Most Beautiful Miss World of All Times’. Then, in 2003, Claudine Auger of France (1958), was elected the ‘Most Beautiful Miss World's 1st Runner-up of All Times’. And now, here is Miss World's most beautiful 2nd runner-up of all times....", the organisers said in a statement.

It added, "We congratulate this exotic beauty who hails from the equally exotic nation of Guyana, a former British colony located in South America. At the time she competed in Miss World, Shakira was a stenographer whose hobbies were reading, painting, swimming and lawn tennis. Later, she married British actor Michael Caine. Her placement in Miss World 1967 was Guyana's highest in any grand slam pageant in history."
