Baksh, Miss Guyana 1967, has won the Global Beauties contest as the ‘Most
Beautiful Miss World's 2nd Runner-up of All Times’.
The
competition was hosted by the Global Beauties
and Pageantopolis websites to
complete the Most Beautiful Miss World trio.
"In
the year 2000 Aishwarya Rai of India (1994) was chosen the ‘Most Beautiful
Miss World of All Times’. Then, in 2003, Claudine Auger of France (1958), was
elected the ‘Most Beautiful Miss World's 1st Runner-up of All Times’. And
now, here is Miss World's most beautiful 2nd runner-up of all times....",
the organisers said in a statement.
It added,
"We congratulate this exotic beauty who hails from the equally exotic
nation of Guyana, a former British colony located in South America. At the time
she competed in Miss World, Shakira was a stenographer whose hobbies were
reading, painting, swimming and lawn tennis. Later, she married British actor
Michael Caine. Her placement in Miss World 1967 was Guyana's highest in any
grand slam pageant in history."
The
competition began some weeks ago, and after the final seven were selected, the
celebrity panel of adjudicators, which included Ms. Janet Boring, Miss New York
State and Miss United State's 1st runner-up from 1961; Dawid Baraniak, Poland;
Nick C, Turkey/New Zealand; Markku Erkkila, Finland; David Aizik, Israel; Donald
West, Canada; Heidar Jonsson, Iceland; Lee Grindley, England; Peter Sereno,
Australia/Philippines; Woojae Chung, Korea; Alberto Dubal, Brazil; Rafael Delfin,
U.S.A./Philippines; Marjukka Nieminen, Finland; Jimmy Steele, Canada; and Julio
Rodriguez, Venezuela, were given the task of deciding who wins.
The first
runner-up was Venezuela's Sharon Luengo (1990), who Baksh beat by two scores,
while the 2nd runner-up was the Philippines' Ruffa Gutierrez (1993). Miss
